Upcoming Goodrich
Expeditions
Right now my trips are set for
2007. I got the Yampa permit and it is a full trip on April
23rd. We did the Little Salmon, North Forks of the Boise and
Payette and Main Payette instead of the Bruneau. I'll be in Alaska all summer and still invite
folks to visit me there, my weekends to play are Sunday/Monday and
I hope to do some cool excursion around Alaska. I am working
hard on the plans for a
three month trip to Africa for late 2007, and the itinerary is now
set in stone. Looking ahead to 2008, I hope to do a 5 day
Salt River trip in March if I can get a permit, then I'm planning
on a 7-day Desolation/Gray Canyon trip at the end of April.
In late May and early June I plan to do a week of rivers In
western Alberta and Eastern British Columbia, since this will be
my final drive to Alaska for a summer.
Africa
I wanted to do a trip in
Africa, after completing a major month and a half in New Zealand
and Australia back in 1986. However, the Africa trip was put
on hold.....until now. I am starting to put together a major
3 month trip through Eastern Africa, traveling from the North,
beginning with Ethiopia and heading south, ending in South
Africa. This major trip will be quite expensive, so I don't
expect anyone to join me for the whole thing, but people can join
me for segments along the way. I have started a page on this
trip with a still a bit tentative itinerary. Check it out!
Panorama
I will be doing my annual trip to Panorama
next winter (2008) at the Bob Lee/Ann Talton ski-in, ski-out condo.
We will be there from February 3rd through February 11, skiing
it up in Taynton Bowl and in the Extreme Dream.
Since we did a 7 run Taynton day in 07 we'll have to go for
8 in 08! Will make more attempts on the cliff runs at Mocha,
Devils Drop, Starfire and the Cauldron Cliffs.
Sid Clark and Ed Collins are expected to join us all.
We may go do an extra or two at Fernie.
Turkey
The world class Coruh River
may be dammed up in the next year or two, so I hope to go do it before it
is gone. Looking at June, 2008 or 2009 for this one.
Alaska
I plan on working in Alaska in
the summers of 2007 and 2008. For the summer of 07, I will
have Sundays and Mondays off. I invite folks to visit and
what I recommend is to come on a Saturday and stay through the
following Monday or Tuesday. That way I can play with you on
my weekends and there is plenty for you to do during my work
week. Let me know if your interested ahead of time, as I do
have some commitments in place already for this summer. I'm
also hoping to get to Nome for a weekend this summer.
Spring, 2008
I am hoping to get a permit
for the Salt River Wilderness trip, which I did twice in
2007. It is a most beautiful section of river with some nice
rapids up to Class IV. Ideally a launch around March 17th
would be best, but I'll have to wait and see if I can get a permit
for then. I will also apply for a launch on Desolation
Canyon, which goes into Gray Canyon on the Green River, for April
27. This would be a 7 day trip. Pretty easy
whitewater, but is a major canyon on the Green/Colorado system
that I haven't seen. Finally I plan on stopping on the way
to Alaska to do a week of rivers in Western Alberta and Eastern
British Columbia. I did rivers in Western BC in 2002, and
I've wanted to come back and do the more Eastern rivers.
