Salt Wilderness and Whatever?
for 2009 also Canadian Rockies Rivers itinerary
Salt River Wilderness
This river has amazing scenery and some really
good rapids. It is a best kept secret and a true gem.
In 2008 I was fortunate to do 4 trips, including a private
trip. There is no permit needed if you enter the Wilderness
before March 1st. In 2008 the water level was great in late
February (and the weather was good, too). I am going to plan
a February 26 launch to do a seven day trip. This will
completely depend on the snowpack in the White Mountains of
Arizona, so I should have a good idea by mid to late January, as
to if it will go, but if the snow is there I will do this trip.
Whatever
I have had some great late April trips lately and
want to do one in 2009, but not sure of what. Anyone on the
Grand Canyon list if you get an e-mail for any cancellations definitely
put in for any date in April and I will be happy to coordinate
it. Otherwise I'm open for suggestions. Leaning
towards doing the San Juan again, but the Forks of the Kern was
another idea, but not sure of water level or weather for that one
in April. Also this is a hike in gear trip, so this would
not be the traditional full kitchen, stylin' river trip. Let
me know if anyone has an April suggestion.
